I love perfume, body sprays, lotions… basically anything that makes me smell good. And Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 68 has become one of those scents I keep reaching for.
But here’s the thing: if I’m spending money on fragrance, I want to actually smell it for more than 20 minutes.
Over time, I’ve learned that making a scent last isn’t really about spraying yourself 47 times. It’s more about layering fragrance in the right places and in the right order.
So if you love Sol de Janeiro 68 — that bright, fruity-floral, slightly sweet scent — here are 10 simple scent hacks that can help it last longer.
1. Start With a Scented Body Wash
Your fragrance routine can start before you even get out of the shower.
Using a body wash with a similar fruity, floral or slightly sweet scent gives your fragrance a base to build on.
You don’t necessarily need every single product to be from the exact same fragrance line. Look for complementary scents rather than competing ones.
Think:
- Fruity
- Floral
- Slightly sweet
- Fresh
- Warm vanilla or musk underneath
The goal is for everything to work together.
2. Apply Lotion While Your Skin Is Still Slightly Damp
This might be one of the easiest scent hacks.
Fragrance tends to last longer on moisturized skin than dry skin, so apply lotion right after your shower while your skin is still slightly damp.
You can use a matching scented lotion or even a simple unscented moisturizer if you want Sol de Janeiro 68 to be the star.
Either way, moisturized skin gives your fragrance something to hold onto.
3. Add Body Oil Over Your Lotion
This is one of my favorite tricks.
After lotion, add a small amount of body oil to areas where you plan to spray your fragrance.
The oil helps lock in moisture and creates another layer for your scent to cling to.
You do not need to coat yourself in oil. A little on your arms, shoulders, neck or chest is plenty.
Bonus: your skin looks amazing too.
4. Don’t Forget Your Deodorant
This sounds obvious, but your deodorant is part of your overall scent whether you think about it or not.
If your deodorant has a really strong scent that clashes with your perfume, the combination can get… interesting.
I like choosing something fresh, clean, lightly fruity or fairly neutral when I know I’m wearing a fragrance like 68.
It’s a small detail, but scent layering is really about the whole picture.
5. Spray Your Pulse Points — But Don’t Rub
Yes, wrists and neck still matter.
Try spraying fragrance on:
- Wrists
- Inside elbows
- Base of the neck
- Behind the ears
- Behind the knees
These warmer areas of the body can help diffuse fragrance throughout the day.
And after you spray your wrists?
Don’t rub them together.
Just let the fragrance dry naturally.
6. Spray Your Hair — Carefully
Hair holds fragrance incredibly well.
Instead of spraying perfume directly onto your hair over and over, I prefer a hair and body mist, especially something like Sol de Janeiro 68 that is already made for that purpose.
Mist it lightly over your hair or spray your brush and then run it through your hair.
Every time your hair moves, you get another little hint of fragrance.
And I love that.
7. Spray Your Clothes Too
Fabric can hold scent much longer than skin.
A light mist on your shirt, cardigan, jacket or scarf can help your fragrance stay noticeable for hours.
Just be smart about delicate fabrics and always test somewhere inconspicuous first.
I especially love doing this on sweaters or jackets because I’ll put them on again later and still smell the fragrance.
8. Layer Similar Scents Instead of Identical Ones
This is where scent layering gets fun.
You don’t have to use ten products that all smell exactly the same.
In fact, some of my favorite combinations come from using scents that complement each other.
With Sol de Janeiro 68, I like layering it with things that lean:
- Fruity
- Jasmine/floral
- Vanilla
- Soft musk
- Fresh and slightly sweet
Think of your fragrance routine like putting together an outfit. Everything doesn’t have to match perfectly — it just needs to look, or in this case smell, good together.
9. Carry a Mini Fragrance for a Midday Refresh
Sometimes the simplest answer is just… reapply it.
Body mists naturally aren’t always going to last like a heavy eau de parfum.
I love keeping a smaller fragrance or travel spray in my purse so I can refresh during the day.
A couple of sprays around lunchtime can bring everything back without completely starting over.
10. Create a Simple Scent Routine You’ll Actually Use
You absolutely do not need a 14-step fragrance routine every morning.
Mine is usually something like:
Shower → lotion → body oil → deodorant → hair/body mist → fragrance on pulse points
That’s it.
The biggest difference for me has simply been layering a few complementary products instead of expecting one spray to do all the work.
And if you love Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 68, it’s an easy fragrance to build around because it works so well with fruity, floral, fresh and softly sweet scents.
My Biggest Scent-Longevity Tip
If you only change one thing, make it this:
Moisturize first. Spray second.
Dry skin seems to eat fragrance alive.
And while I cannot promise you’ll leave a perfect little cloud of Sol de Janeiro 68 everywhere you go…
That is absolutely the goal. 😂
